My grandfather had it, my father has it and I have it.
It’s a space between my two front teeth. It’s a genetic condition, and I was told that nothing could be done to correct it.
For years my classmates in school made fun of the space between my two front teeth, but I just got used to the teasing and I learned to “get over it”. Years ago, at my insistence, my mother took me to a dentist to correct my perceived disfigurement. The only resolution the dentist could offer at that time was the placement of two full porcelain crowns on my two front teeth. My wise mother would not permit such gross invasion of my healthy natural teeth to correct this “minor” esthetic problem, so we did nothing.
Fast-forward twenty years. I am now a TV producer and “my space”, although acceptable for David Letterman and Lauren Hutton, was not working for me. My peers still perceived it as “too country” for my job and me.
Coincidentally, in an effort to relieve my wife from some of her routine errands, I agreed to take my children to the office of Dr. Tom Hughes (here in Monument) for their routine dental check-ups. While in his office, I took note of some before and after photos of his patients that had similar dental conditions; namely space between the two front teeth that he corrected with “bonding”. Upon further inquiry, I had my questions answered and at a subsequent appointment “ my space” was quickly reduced to “no space”. It was a simple, non-invasive procedure that took less than an hour and cost less than I expected. Needless to say, I am very impressed with the results, and I highly recommend that you visit his office if have any dental concerns.
Dr. Hughes’ office “runs on-time” and we are privileged to have such a skilled dentist here in Monument. Should you have any cosmetic, restorative or preventive dental concerns for your or your entire family, I urge you to contact Dr. Hughes.
Once again, thank you, Dr. Hughes. Finally, I am confident with my smile and the absence of “my space”.
